Are These The Best Nail Options For Autumn 2023?
If you are planning to get some nail treatments this month, it may be because you are keen to get them looking great with some stylish colours or patterns for autumn. But what are your best options?
As ever, the fashion pundits all have their ideas, with Marie Claire among those calling up its panel of eight experts, who offered a range of predictions.
The predictions included ‘Vampire red,’ a startling dark colour that sounds like it might be popular at the end of October. At the opposite end of the spectrum is an understated, subtle matcha green, so autumn clearly has a lot of choice to offer.
Others have stood the test of time through 2023, such as ‘normcore’ nude pink, which is not seasonal; it just won’t go out of season. A blue and pink combination was also listed.
Brown is a big autumnal colour and both bronze metallic hues and tortoiseshell have been tipped to sparkle, quite literally.
The list is topped out by a bold sapphire blue, a tomato red for those who prefer ketchup to blood, and a more orange-red of burnt sunset. A much lighter sunset is burnt ombre, which the pronounced orange colours towards the tip.
Notably, the forecasts also included shorter nails, suggesting nail health may matter as much as style or colour. That’s something to think of as you come in for a treatment.
At the same time, these lists are always to be taken with a pinch of salt. One expert will say one thing, and another will offer something completely different.
This is true of nail colours this autumn. For instance, Who What Wear has produced a list of 13 looks for the season, including a number not on the Marie Claire list such as jet black, white and ochre. But there are also some crossovers, such as deep reds and pastel pale green.
Ultimately, there are so many different ‘fashionable’ shades that nothing can be described as ‘the’ colour of autumn. It’s best to simply look at the various possibilities and go your own way with what you think looks best on your nails.
